About

We’re Florence and Sara, two friends who decided they wanted to run a conference session that’s a little different. Apart from our mutual interest in history, archaeology and video games, we also both want to run a session that people from outside of academia would want to contribute to.

As you can tell, we’re very serious people…

What is archaeogaming?

Archaeogaming is the study of archaeology and games. This can include a lot of different things:

  • How archaeologists are portrayed in games (e.g. Lara Croft)
  • How historical settings and culture are depicted in games
  • The material culture of games (whether that be boardgames or video game consoles)
  • An analysis of how games develop over time
  • Games preservation

There are lots of different directions you can take archaeogaming research in. Take a look at our Call For Papers for more ideas.
